Joy! SL on Linux!
Woo-freakin-hoo! I'm downloading the Second Life Linux client as we speak (er, post, whatever). It's alpha, and there are known issues, but I am psyched. I would LOVE for this thing to get the kinks knocked out of it; I spend much less time in Second Life than I would simply because of the activation energy
required to stop, shut things down, and reboot to Windows. If I could just pop in at will, I really feel that I'd spent a lot more time there. And it's an increasing returns sort of thing...when I dig in and start playing around in-game, I get so involved, and have so many ideas, that I want to log in even more...cool!
So I'm actually looking forward to the inevitable coredump hell. Color me masochistic, I suppose. Download complete. Cross your fingers; here we go!

You could always do what I do. Have a seperate windows box just for games. It makes life much easier.

Heh...you have a BIT more room in your office than I have in mine, I expect. *grin* That's our choice, of course, and we like it that way...but no joy. Besides, I LIKE not running Windows except when absolutely necessary. This makes it less necessary! (And yes, I've done the KVM switch scenario long ago...ick).
And honestly, I'm too cheap to buy another decent gaming box anyway. LOL! But I do appreciate the suggestion. Once my CRT dies and I switch to flatscreens, I might actually consider it. We do run multiple machines in the house frequently, but one or more of them are laptops. Portable that way. Next iteration of hardware I buy, we'll see.
And as an extra added bonus, now I can delete my test comment and still have something in my comments section. w00t!
